The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) is the leading standards body responsible for the training and education of specialists and GP obstetricians in obstetrics and gynaecology in Australia and New Zealand.

Job Description

Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Mobile Application Developer to lead the development, enhancement and maintenance of the RANZCOG Mobile App across iOS and Android platforms using React Native. This is a hands-on role where you’ll integrate frontend features with backend systems, deliver seamless and secure user experiences, and support continuous product improvement aligned with our organisational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, and maintain high-performance mobile applications using React Native for both iOS and Android platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with backend developers, and BAs to deliver seamless user experiences.
  • Integrate mobile apps with backend systems via RESTful APIs, handling authentication, real-time data sync, and secure communication.
  • Ensure code quality, performance, and scalability through automated testing, code reviews, and best practices.
  • Diagnose and fix bugs and performance bottlenecks.
  • Stay up to date with the latest mobile development trends, libraries, and frameworks.
  • Contribute to app store deployments and release management for iOS and Android.
  • The ability to work without close supervision, as a member of a team; be enthusiastic and self-motivated; contribute ideas and collaborate in their implementation.

Desired Skills and Experience

Ko wai koe | About you - Key Selection Criteria

  • Proven hands-on experience in mobile application development.
  • At least 3+ years of commercial experience using React Native.
  • Proven track record of delivering cross-platform apps to both App Store and Google Play.
  • Strong experience in integrating mobile apps with RESTful APIs and backend services.
  • Solid understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript, Redux, and mobile app architecture.
  • Familiarity with native modules and bridging to native code (iOS/Android) when needed.
  • Experience with mobile UI/UX design principles and responsive layouts.
  • Familiar with CI/CD tools for mobile apps, app signing, and release processes.
  • Good understanding of security best practices in mobile development.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • High level of self-motivation, initiative, forecasting, planning and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to liaise and communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Experience with native iOS/Android development (Swift, Kotlin, or Java).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and mobile release automation.
  • Knowledge of push notifications, Firebase, analytics SDKs, or GraphQL.
  • Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field
